Review of Suitability
Front cover:
1). One good point about my front cover is that the colour palette I used was captivating and bright which allowed for it to catch the attention of readers. This was an advantage because if it captures readers attentions then it will entice them to read on and be more engaged with the magazine. This could lead to other benefits such as repeat purchases if they enjoyed the content inside and also they could recommend others to try the magazine leading to an increase in sales and brand awareness. This linked to my target audience because typically teenagers and young adults would be more engaged with something that is bright and captivating whereas if I made my front cover quite dark by using colours such as black and grey then it will make them become bored and uninterested by the magazine quicker which will eliminate the potential for repeat purchases and increased sales. One way I could further improve this is by perhaps not using so many bright colours and use more of a balance between light and dark colours so that where I do use the bright colours it will make them stand out more which will allow me to show the audience the most important information first.

2). My second point is my good use of layouts and my placements around my page. This is good because it allowed me to play a factor in what the reader saw and in what order for example by making my masthead a larger size than all other texts it drew their attention to that first so that they could associate the magazine with the "PACE" brand in order to increase brand awareness. Then I put my quote in the next largest text in order to draw the attention over to it so it could act as a hook for readers as they might want to find out more about the artist featured enticing them to read on and purchase the edition. I then left had my cover lines as the secondary hook for the readers as it gave them an insight into what else they could expect from the edition further enticing them to read on. This linked to my target audience because the price might be considered expensive for them so I would need to really hook them in order to make them purchase a copy.  However one way I would further improve this is by spreading out my cover lines on the right hand side to make them more clear and not look like they are part of the same story.

3). Finally another good point about my front cover is my use fonts. My font choices were good because they were quite clear to read and gave my magazine a professional look. However my masthead needed to be edited in order to give it a more clear cut look. My coverlid choice was "Lemon Milk". This font was very straight and clean which helped to give my magazine a more professional feel to it. Finally my body copy font "Marvellous sans" had a some what childish but clear feel to it which helped to target the younger side of my target audience. Another way my fonts related to my target audience is that my masthead,  "Campus", the word itself is typically associated with universities and colleges where you would find my target audience, young adults and teens.

4). However one thing I could have improved on for my front cover is I could have created more of a connection with my target audience through the use of eye contact. Because my model is looking away from the camera the target audience might not connect with the page as a whole so therefore could mean they are not very intrigued to pick it up and purchase a copy. This links to my target audience because typically if my target audience feels a connection with something they are more likely to pay attention and be interested in it so because there isn't this connection established then it could reduce the chances of them buying an edition.

Double Page Spread

1) I could have reduced the amount of text within my stand first, as it is important to secure the attention of my reader. Having a large paragraph might disinterest the lower end of my target audience (ages 17-25). This is bad because if my reader becomes uninterested in the magazine then they would consider it a waste of money and would not want to buy any future.

2) To create more convergence throughout the magazine as a whole, I could have included a website link somewhere within the double page spread to encourage them to use the online platform that I have created for my magazine. This would have enticed my target audience to go onto the online platforms and become more engaged with the brand itself so that in the future they'd be more inclined to buy other editions in the future as there has been a connection between the reader and the magazine established.

3) My colour scheme is something that worked really well for my double page spread. This is because the colours that I used matched very well and allowed the image I used to stand out on the page and be the main attention of the page, as intended. This links to my target audience because creating a path for their attention is important to make sure they stay engaged so by making them see the image first and then focus on the text around it after it allows for them to not feel overwhelmed by the text which could quite easily happen given my target audiences age.

4) I had a good use of shape tool to emphasise the main article. The black shape I created behind the text really allowed for the text to be seen clearly as the main article was placed in white and yellow which both match well with the black background. This means that it is easier to read and people will have an easier time understanding what it says. This links to my target audience because typically they might find it hard to stay engaged with this kind of a magazine so therefore to have it be easy to read and clear to see will aid them in keeping engaged. This will then mean they will enjoy the magazine more and be more likely to purchase future editions.
